Nowruz Literary Agency Going to Exchange 20 Copyrights in Frankfurt Book Fair
In its first presence in Frankfurt Book Fair, Nowruz Literary Agency, an affiliated institute of Alhoda International Publishing Group, is going to conduct about 20 negotiations with great publishing institutes as well as American, European publishing groups.
Ramineh Rezazadeh, the director of Nowruz Literary Agency and Alhoda’s envoy to the Frankfurt Book Fair, said, “Since almost three months ago we started to exchange emails with the world significant publishing institutes in order to pave the way for further negotiations and to exchange copy rights of Iranian and foreign works in the 66th Frankfurt Book Fair”, Public Relations Department of Alhoda reported.
“About 20 scheduled negotiations have been fixed so far (about one week before opening 2014 Frankfurt Book Fair) and it is expected to be increased by opening date of the fair. However, negotiation with agents of the world’s authenticated and important publishing institutes through the first participation of Nowruz Literary Agency in the world’s most important cultural gathering is very important,” she added.
Referring to this fact that, like Moscow Book Fair, Nowruz will showcase 99 books, produced by 19 Iranians publishes, in Frankfurt, Rezazadeh explained about scheduled appointments with publishers from Brazil, Turkey, India, Russia, South Korea, Norway, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Alhoda Publishing Group’s envoy to Frankfurt Book Fair stated, “Among these publishers there is a very recognized Brazilian publisher who has representatives in Spain, Canada, Argentina, USA and some eastern Asian countries and is used to publish books all over the world. ”She also pointed to her adjusted appointment with two Turkish publishers in Frankfurt and said,“One of them is expert in publishing novels and has a penchant for publishing Mostafa Mastoor’s Bone of a Pig, Hands of a Leper.”“Another publisher, which is the main publisher of Yaşar Kemal, Urhan Pamuk and Nazim Hikmet works, is going to negotiate us about novels, short stories and poems. It also is active in the Tourism Development Authority (TDA) plan, proposed by the Turkey’s Tourism Ministry.” Rezazadeh added.
Director of Nowruz Literary Agency enumerated representatives from Russian publishers as other options to transfer copyright of Iranian works and said, “They are active in novel and literature fields. An Italian publisher, who is the main publisher of Umberto Eco’s works in Europe, is going to negotiate us, as well.
Referring to her scheduled negotiations with publishers from East Asia, she stated, “The most important ones are envoys from Indonesian and Malaysian authenticated publishers and since Indonesia is the honored guest of Frankfurt Book Fair in the next year it would be important. Meanwhile, it is going to start a plan, like TDA in Turkey, in Indonesia.”
Describing their plan, Rezazadeh said, “According to the plan, Indonesia will translate several Iranian works and will publish them across the world at its expense; the plan already has been started with Turkey and is going forward now.”
Finally Rezazadeh pointed out to her scheduled talks with Malaysian Translation and Publishing Foundation, whose activities is similar to what Alhoda conducts in Iran. The 66thFrankfurt Book Fair kicked off on Oct. 8 and lasted five days. It is treated as one of the most important cultural events of the world. Alhoda International Publishing Group and Nowruz Literary Agency will say welcome to book fans in hall no.5 of the fair.
