Zaidiyyah in Yemen: Rise to Government

The Zaidi government of Yemen is the longest religious government not only in Yemen but also in the Muslim world. The exporting of ideas of the Zaidi revolutions from Kufa and Medina to Saada and Sanaa, while also drawing inspiration from its Iranian model, the Zaidi government of Tabaristan, as well as the existence of the specific contexts and inflammations of this era in the shadow of struggle and guidance of devoted leaders, led to the establishment of the Zaidi government of Yemen.

Despite decades of beating to the body of this government, neither the Sunni rival of the Abbasid religion and Shia rival of the Ismaili religion nor even the Ottoman Empire succeeded in destroying it. Thus, Zaidiyyah was able to rule Yemen for many centuries with the Zaidi Imams of Yemen. This long period consists of different phases. One of the most important periods in the life of Zaidiyya in Yemen was the formation of the first phase of the Zaidi Imams` dynasty in Yemen, that is, the period from 288 to 444 AH and the events leading up to it. The main purpose of this book is to follow the political and social struggles of Zaidiyyah during this pivotal period in Yemen`s history.
